On September 8, my cell group discussed the idea of The fear of the LORD, as mentioned in Psalm 128:1 “Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him.” This is a concept found throughout the Bible, especially in the Old Testament. It refers to a deep reverence, awe, and respect for God, acknowledging His holiness, majesty, and authority. This fear is not a paralyzing terror but rather a profound recognition of God’s greatness and a desire to obey and honor Him.

Here are some aspects of the fear of the LORD and why I am considered a blessing in the Christian journey I have been experiencing in the process of faith :
Wisdom and Knowledge: Proverbs 1:7 says, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge.” When we fear the LORD, we open ourselves up to understanding His ways, His will, and His wisdom. It is the foundation upon which we can build a life of wisdom and understanding.

Guidance and Instruction: Psalm 25:14 states, “The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant.” Those who fear the LORD can expect guidance, instruction, and insight into God’s plans and promises.

Protection and Provision: Psalm 34:7 says, “The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, and He delivers them.” The fear of the LORD can lead to God’s protection and provision in our lives. It signifies a trust in God’s care.
Moral and Ethical Conduct: Proverbs 3:7 advises, “Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and depart from evil.” The fear of the LORD helps us live a life that is pleasing to Him by turning away from sin and pursuing righteousness.
Humility and Reverence: The fear of the LORD keeps us humble, acknowledging that God is above us and beyond our comprehension. It fosters a sense of reverence and worship.
Awe and Worship: The fear of the LORD leads to heartfelt worship and praise, recognizing God’s greatness and goodness. It helps us draw near to Him in awe and adoration.
The fear of the LORD is a fundamental principle in the Christian faith. It promotes a close and obedient relationship with God. This doesn’t mean being afraid of punishment, but rather acknowledging God’s supreme authority and responding with reverence, obedience, and love. This attitude of the heart is a blessing because it aligns me with God’s will and opens the door to His guidance, protection, and a fulfilling life.
God’s Grace is Sufficient to sustain and bless us in every situation.
